Our Provenance Collection offers state-of-the-art manufacturing meeting E1 European emissions standards (Carb2 for the USA – California Air Resource Board)). We use the same quality of European Mountain Oak, which is our preferred source for flooring with the most beautiful wood patterns and character. It consists of a 4mm oak top layer backed onto a 12mm substrate of the highest quality Waterproof Boiled Birch Plywood for maximum stability.

We deliberately avoid sourcing and manufacturing ‘veneer cut’ top layers because this form of mass production, where oak logs are soaked in water baths and boiled for hours before the logs are sliced, results in sub-standard oak flooring. This process dramatically impacts quality and consistency because high temperatures cause dramatic colour differences between the outside and the inner of the log, the core being considerably darker than the outside. With our ‘Plain Sawn’ European Mountain Oak, the wood is not boiled, thus more consistent.
